This text addresses the experiences of the Colégio Estadual do Campo de Mutãs, in the interior of Bahia, in the process of construction and reconstruction of projects developed at the institution: Environmental Preservation and Coexistence with the Semi-Arid Project (PACS), Heritage and Artistic Education Project (EPA) and Mais Estudos Program. The context of these experiences permeates the construction of the school's identity as a rural school and the clash with educational reforms that make rural areas invisible and demarcate the interests of capital in basic education. The paths taken demonstrate the relevance of pedagogical work that strengthens peasant identity and the protagonism of young people as possibilities forconfronting and denaturalizing propositions that highlight disputed relationships in basic education.
